    Hey Shakarez,

What do you think about building Guinsoo on Kayle

    P.S. Nice Build!

    Hey Shakarez,

Kayle was one of the very first champs I played - I started playing League back during the early days (I <3 my Judgment Kayle skin) and after returning to the game about a year ago I've played her very sporadically.  I recently found your videos and started watching them, but I have to say, after watching your analysis of Overpow's Kayle as well as your own along with reading this guide, I've drastically improved my Kayle play in a span of about one week. About a month ago I'd dropped from Silver 3 to 5, and now I'm back in Silver 3 with no signs of stopping. I attribute a considerable part of my recent success to reading and following your material. So, keep up the great commentary and thanks!

EDIT: To clarify, in case anyone wants to check the source my handle in LoL is actually "DankMuffins." I was unable to use this ID for making a LolPro account to comment here, as I either made a LolPro account in the past and forgot the associated email/password combo or someone else beat me to the handle.

    Hey Shakarezz.

I havent been on league for very long,  but I spent my many months playing as Kayle and tweaking her setups.  I whole heartedly agree with your item pathing and selection(not that it means anything coming from me).

I just have a few suggestions that I'd like your thoughts on concerning Kayles masteries, starting items, and her skill lvling path.

    1. Masteries-.

I'm not to keen on the points put into Summoner's insight.  I understand that it gets you back your summoner spells 20-30 seconds earlier, but considering noone looks to burn summoner spells as soon as their up(unless they've gotten themselves into a dire situation) so someone actively making smart decisions wont be to burdened with waiting the extra seconds for a summoner spell. However, this is debatable.

And personally, I don't get the relic. In team matches or high elo, when you can depend on your jungling to setup a blue buff for you at some point, and if you make an effort to take blue throughout the game will this mastery be payout.  Personally, I don't expect(playing solo-queues) or find the need to have a blue buff secured for kayle as long as I have 1 or 2 mana pots on hand.  After you get the sapphire crystal(making lichbane's sheen), a kayle with decent mana management wont any consumable or temporary means for having sufficient mana to perform.

with those 4 points freed up, i put 1 more in meditation, and 1 toward the scout(explained below) for 7 points in utility section.

The trinkets provide pretty lousy coverage, so the first 10 minutes or so(however long the "laning" phase lasts" ) it's pretty easy for the trinkets help in "siting" a gank attempt to come too late or no at all.

The last 2 points freed up I put into offensives executioner and dangerous game(3/3 -1/1)  and then the only other difference I have is that my first 4 offensive points are put toward the atkspeed rather than the cooldown.  My reasoning for this was that 1. helps with farming(kayle hitting animation kind of exaggerated(long), 2. the 1-2 seconds reduction on her skills timers doesn't seem all that youthful.  In all honesty, kayle should only be lane-bullying with her e until her q hits lvl 3, or if she's started with a dorans(qlvl 2).  Before then, q usage(outside of a gank) is wasted mana.

For Starting Items- I prioritize a mana pot(e.g. flask, mana pot, and ward or DR blue pot red pot). Even more now than in season 3, mana in the early game can be a real issue for kayle(or any ap carry).  With kayle having her own means for healing and harassing at a "safe" distance, the value of a mana pot seems higher than that of a red(which you wont always find the need to use).

Lastly, concerning the ordering of lvling skills, I believe it's more useful to kayle and her team if she lvls maxes out her w before her e.  E's scaling is rather minimal on an ap kayle rather than any other version.  From the get go she gets a 40% damage from ap points ontop of the skills base damage, and then after that, the percent of bonus ad damage is what gets increased scaling, which isn't a stat thats aimed for with ap kayles.  In comparison, increasing W will increase her heal, along with movement speed, meaning the targeted champ will have better "sustain", chance to make  swift harass, chance to re-position, ability to escape danger, and to secure kills.

P.S.- And I understand that this was a mid-lane guide, which usually means duels between ap's should be expected, but I find exhaust to bo a good alternative to ignite,(even when you aren't going to lane against a mid lane ad assassin).  Being the "ap carry" or just a squishy top-laner with range, having exhaust allows for creating distance between you and in-your-face bruisers, meaning you have more time to dwindle down, bait, or escape enemy champ.  And there's the obvious fact that she isn't all that great with damage output in 1v1s until after her lichbane(to be more accruate, only until getting the voidstaff(3rd item not counting boots)), so coming across something like adc would spell trouble without a way to either "temporarily" lvl the playing field, or provide a means of escape. Whether the kayle has gone relatively AP burst(which in my opinion, is the only build viable on kayle for any situation), or has gone more atk speed oriented, she fact that she has no decent disengage means that methods to allow her to peel(like an exhaust) away from enemy enemy champs who can reach her would be very useful for her

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

SO OP BUILD TY I GOT A PENTA 5v1 I love you :DDD <3

  • #34 Deadclone

Damn dude!!!! I just went 23/9/7 in a ranked game  with 4 triple kills and plenty of double kills. Lol kayle is my favorite champ but after malady i never really knew what to build on her. Ty so much lol! Build rocks!

  • #35 Shakarezz

My pleasure, If you want to learn more about kayle I'd suggest reading the article on the rune/mastery section

  • #37 Deadclone

Hey  Shakarezz, sorry it took me so long to reply! I read the page suggested and also read the article with all the math on why Atk speed ap kayle is the most viable option. Very interesting stuff! And i must say I agree, Nashors tooth is a must most definitely but you don't necessarily "Snowball" Untill you finish lich bane or obtain a sheen quickly.  Either way these are both fairly cheep items and you can obtain them both by 16 minutes because your farm and wave clear I think is on par with a karthus even more so once you get sheen for the increased damage on the splash. I also found that getting 2 doran rings depending on how your laning is going is great for that little bit of extra hp and mana regen. I tend to go Dorans>fiendesh Codex>Berserker Greaves for the extra attack speed and movement speed to last me untill I finish Nashors Instead of Fiendish>boots of speed> stinger>Nashors. I find that completing the zerker boots is a very cheep option and doesnt slow down your nashors because you will clear the lanes and obtain the gold that much faster (It also makes you near impossible to gank when you use your W). I then proceed to follow the build depending on the mr of the enemy team ect. Sorry for this massive Paragraph but Once again I thank you for the help and I am well on my way to mastering kayle once again. P.S She was also the first champ I learned to play ;p

Good to know, I use zerks occasionally but learned to play without them, unless I need to be splitpushing or counterpushing enemies with a lot of pushing power. Other than that you should try to learn how to farm without zerks because Sorcs will help you much more throughout the game

  • #39 Deadclone

To be honest I find if i get zerks before nashors my lane is always pushed and my jungler can never find an opportunity to gank leaving you exposed to be ganked in the process. Its really impact in the laning phase if you don't need that much pushing power. You clear lanes so quickly that the other wave takes a while to show up. So I def agree with that you just said.

  • #40 Shakarezz

If you're playing against fast wave clearers I find that zerks has helped me clear my waves fast enough so I don't let him roam without me

  • #32 LinkFake

How would a witchcap substitute for the hourglass? It seems like Kayle would do better with more damage output than armor.

  • #33 ArkilllionYOLO

    ?

    Full build

    Sorcs -> Nashors -> Rabadons -> Lich -> Void -> Zhonyas

There's always a cap and a Zhonya's in her build? Maybe you mistook Jacky's build order because of the core items that build into the respectful items?

  • #36 Shakarezz

    Lich before Rabadons

  • #30 Basinator

You dont have included that many CDR options. What about Athene's/early chalice? Would fix her mana issues.

Also, CDR scales well with Kayle.

What about Morellos? I saw a burst Kayle with DFG once as well...

What about Gunblade? But definitivly nto as 1st item, though.

Nashor's is a better option than both Morello or Unholy Grail, you scale off attack speed and it gives you magic damage on hit.

Burst kayle works, but is generally less useful

  • #27 Krickorian

This might be abit newbish question. But I'm wondering when you should go for the AP AS build and when to go for full burst. Is it just dependant on your playstyle or is one better than the other against certain matchups?

Thumbs up for the guide, Kayle is banned so little in Silver 1 so you can just steamroll ppl :)

  • #28 Shakarezz

Depends largerly on playstyle, but also on what you want to achieve.

e.g: The AP/AS still has quite the burst. But it's more meant to do sustained damage with some burst spikes (whenever you have your Q up)

The burst build is more suited as an anti-carry build. You can two shot enemy AD carries with it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZDLK4xCBO4 (It says troll build because people actually thought kayle AP was bad in season 2)

Also you can mix up both builds, going for Nashor's instead of Morellonomicon on your Burst Build

  • #29 Krickorian

Thanks for the reply, I understand what you mean in a way.

I haven't played too much with kayle (about 50 games ranked) but I noticed that against certain champs it might be favorable with burst, though AS is faster for waveclear and towerpushing so that's generally the one I go for. :)
