Strategy and Tactics
Lissandra plays much more like an anti-carry than actually carrying herself. The reason for this is she has a lot of crowd control, low ranges, low base damages, and high cooldowns. You need to focus on buying your carries more time to deal damage or assassinating the enemy team's carries. When playing champions of this fashion, you really must put an emphasis on winning lane or roaming a lot. How you weigh that choice generally comes from what you're up against. Heroes like Karthus and TF generally need to be crushed in lane for you to have a good foothold into the game.
Lissandra actually has a lot of mana problems, so be sure to fully utilize her passive when possible. Once you have a blue buff, which you should be getting as the mid laner, things change a lot and she can easily wave clear with one Ice Shard and a Glacial Path at around level 9. You can even just fire it straight into the wave when they're grouping near eachother. Be advised about using your Glacial Claw to farm however, if you get ganked after using it you'll most likely have to flash.
Lissandra has an obnoxious harassing tool with how Ice Shard works. The ability by itself doesn't really have fantastic range, but once it collides with something, the splash radius becomes quite large. Use this to your benefit at all times in lane and to control where your opponent stands. If you always keep them at an angle behind creeps, they will always be forced to reposition. A clever tactic to use with it is to use this idea of making them reposition is to try to angle them in directions towards your jungler as he tries to gank. Lissandra's harassment once she gets a blue becomes so ridiculous you should hope you have enough AP or AD to wave clear before she can or you generally have to roam. Laning against her becomes incredibly difficult.
Pressure the Enemy Jungler
Make sure to have the enemy wraiths brush always warded, this won't only benefit your safety, but give you kill opportunities. If you see a half HP Jungler your chances to burst him are fairly, hop over the wall and combo him for an easy kill. Jungler tend to not build magic resistance in the early stages of the game (due to jungle items build path), so Sorcerer's Shoes + magic pen marks let you deal close to true damage.
Setting up Ganks
Your high amount of crowd control lets you set up easy ganks for your Jungler, so don't hesitate to engage the gank rather then waiting until your enemy realizes a 1vs2 situation.
Strength: Heavy Crowd Control
Few heroes have more crowd control effects than Lissandra with a slow, snare and a stun. Use this to your benefit and ask your jungler to gank once you have 6. The really great part about her kit as well is that despite her low ranges, she has a gap closer to apply all these nice crowd controls.
Lissandra is definitely one of the more interesting AP champions released as she has relatively low ranges and her ultimate ability winds up forcing you to make a choice. Should you use it as a Zhonya-like ability to survive and put yourself in the center of the enemies? Or should you use it on an enemy carry to stifle their damage and hopefully assassinate them? The answer tends to rely on the state of the game and how it flowed. If their carries are immensely fed, usually you want to assassinate, but don't take that to be an end-all statement, if a tank comes out of positioned, they might easily be a free kill if stunned for 1.5 seconds. Even assuming for their tank having tenacity, you never really know how it will play out until you do it.
Playing teamfights almost always depends on the state of the game. If your carries are stronger, you can easily sit back, poke and peel for them. However, if they have carries with longer range, you'll clearly have to hard engage on them using Glacial Claw, Ring of Frost and your ultimate likely on yourself so that your allies can catch up to do damage while still surviving. This is a game of awareness so having a strong sense of how the game has flowed up until the teamfight phase is very important. If you've been roaming in the course of the game and have shut down someone specific to the point that they're easily killed in one rotation, feel free to do it. However, you do have to weight it against the idea that you're letting a few of the enemy carries go unharassed if you focus on one target.
Bait and Switch Escape
Glacial Claw has a very visible graphic to your enemies. You can use this to your advantage by throwing your claw one direction and simply walking the other. It forces them to question if you'll reactive and appear at the Claw and if they go that direction, you simply walk off. If they chase you, you can simply reactive to go to the claw.
Proper Cooldown Usage
Oftentimes, people overreact when trying to escape. Just be calm in how you make decisions and think about it beforehand. If, for example, a Xin Zhao uses his dash on you, only use one cooldown to get away between Glacial Claw and Ring of Frost (or even Frozen Tomb could be used). Always think about cooldowns and how best to counter the usage of your opponents' cooldowns.
Tips and Tricks
With the gapcloser of Glacial Claw, the crowd control of Ice Shard and Ring of Frost and the protection of Frozen Tomb, Lissandra can easily initiate fights if your team lacks an initiator. The best way to do this is to try to aim your Glacial Claw into a place where the center of the enemy team will be, reactivate, Ring of Frost, throw an Ice Shard and use Frozen Tomb on yourself. With any luck at the very least you'll get flashes. At the best you'll get your team an ace.
Lissandra's gap closer has literally the longest range of any in the game. It is counterbalanced by being one of the slowest, however. It can be used much like Kassadin's Riftwalk such that if you hit the halfway point in a wall, you'll go over. This can be used to completely disguise the claw marker that appears on the ground by aiming it slightly inside the wall. She also has many more gank path options due to its massive range. Just be sure that your opponent cannot easily see the claw marker, or they're already to overextended to escape even if they do.
Synergies and Counters
The synergy of Lissandra with these particular set of champions is really obvious. You're trying to maximize your area of effect with crowd control. If the enemy team stacks up onto eachother to get hit by one ult, they'll be crowd controlled long enough to get hit my more ults. Chances are they'll be crowd controlled until they're dead.
Kassadin: Is just an annoying champion to deal with, if you try to jump him, he will just silence you and/or jump away. Your slow mobility and low range give you a hard time fighting and trading with him
Diana: While you have a chance to beat her early, the chances decrease throughout the game, due to her shield, her itemization and gapcloser.
Morgana: Can still be outplayed(not a hard counter), but her Black Shield (E) has such a huge impact on this matchup, so try to bait it before trading/fighting.
