Lane Phase/Early Game
Nidalee's lane phase is one of the strongest in the game, as she can zone most enemy champions. She has very little that counters her, and her mobility allows her to avoid most ganks.
Nidalee still with the recent patch has great sustainability in the lane. You should place traps in key places such as brush and lane entry points. You also want to avoid throwing spears early to conserve mana for heals.During the early levels (1-5), it is key to try to harass the enemy using your auto attacks and to use the brush to your advantage. The easiest way to do this is to pop in and out of brush auto attacking the enemy once each time.Doing this will prevent your lane from pushing, and prevent you from taking minion damage. If you can, try to zone the enemy champion to force them to lose gold and experience.. You are able to take most heroes by just auto attacking and healing. It is very important to try and hit as many last hits as you can while also harassing this puts you even further ahead in lane. Once your lvl try to let the lane push this helps a lot when trying to pick up a kill once you get cougar form.
As soon as you hit six, try to jump on the enemy champion in your lane. There are very few other champions that can take Nidalee alone as after she hits level six,her damage output is very large and is very sustained. You will most likely get a kill or make the enemy champion at the very least, burn summoner spells to get away from you,Using your Pounce first, use Swipe, then next Takedown for maximum damage output. If your lane is pushed when once you get cougar form you can roam and try to gank mid, bot or even the jungler. With Nidalee's high mobility it is very easy to roam and gank as well as counter jungle your enemy. It is very key to get your first core items as fast as possible, so while harassing,do not forget to farm or else the harassment becomes less effective.
Auto Attacking From Top Brush
Harass with your auto attack and then go back into the brush to take off the aggro.
Nidalee maintains a very strong mid-game.Her spears do amazing damage, her heals sustain very well, and her traps provide great map awareness. You should run around roaming from lane to lane, looking for ganks. Once you get your Rage blade, you should want to force 1v1 fights across the map, and at Dragon. You need to maintain your farming while doing this, to keep up in gold and items. Pushing is always viable with Nidalee because of her great mobility, allowing her push even overextended and still get away.
Nidalee starts to fade off late game when compared to other AP casters, so you must play her to her strengths if a game reaches that point. Her cougar form isn't as strong as it is in mid/early game, so the key is to try and poke as much as possible before an actual teamfight breaks out. Aside from running away from death, you won’t use cougar form very much at all in the late game. Primal Surge (E) will help your carry greatly in team fights late game, so sticking with them is a good idea. Another very viable strategy with Nidalee late game is to split push away from your team. Nidalee can take down towers extremely fast & safely.
Nidalee, even post patch is played in a similar manner where Roaming is her strength. She can Bushwack the enemy jungle, place wards in their jungle and get back to lane without losing experience., She can gank the enemy jungler with proper vision. Because of how quickly Nidalee can do this and not lose significant experience and farm in lane, she is still very strong.
If you plan on leaving the lane, push the lane quickly by auto attacking the minions and still getting last hits.
• Go into the enemy jungle and use Bushwack to place vision sites in the bushes.
Do not roam until you are level 6. You will need to move into cougar form to move around the map quickly. Make sure you have a level in Bushwack so that you can leap around.
Nidalee is not the strongest teamfighter, so you have to play her to her advantages.A great Nidalee wil lpoke the enemy team with her spears before the fight actually starts,to try and greatly weaken an enemy before even entering a fight. Stay in the back and spam spears whenever it is up.You can also try putting down traps in all the brush around the fight, which will reduce the magic resistance and armor of the enemy champion. You should try to keep up a heal on your carry as often as possible. At the end of a team fight, try to chase down the lowest health enemy in cougar form and pick off as many kills as possible. Unless you are able to poke them down low,you probably won’t want to enter a team fight with Nidalee. Try to use her to her strengths and split push, or have all five in a lane and poke at them until they have to back to take their towers.
Tips and Tricks
Experience: Nidalee has a hidden passive that many people do not know about. When Nidalee is higher level then another champion on your team you can stand next to them and they will slowly gain EXP over time you can see 5 and 10 EXP pop up over people's heads when you stand around Nidalee.
Map Control: When playing Nidalee, remember that her Bushwack (W) gives vision a trap is popped. You can give your team map control by placing traps at key points near Baron, Dragon, and other buffs. You have a good chance at stealing Baron over Smite with a fully distanced Javelin Toss (Q).
Effective Spear Usage: When poking an enemy team, it is key to try to run the opposite direction from which you threw it. This is because spear damage is calculated from your current location when the spear hits, not your location when throwing it. A great way to do this is entering cougar form and using pounce right after throwing a spear. Adding distance between yourself and the impact will add a great deal of damage to your spears.
Baiting Enemies in to fight a lost battle: With Nidalee you can heal a large amount and people underestimate it quite alot. You can easily bait enemies to come fight you thinking they can easily kill you then you can pop your heal and maul them with cougar form.
Evading: Nidalee is one of the best evade champions in the game. She can easily kite nearly any champion and while the enemy is chasing you, you can have other members of your allied team working on other objectives (towers, dragon, etc).
Synergies and Counters
Nidalee has synergy with many champions in League. She is very strongon teams with champions that can poke well, as well as block for her (i.eAmumu, Rammus). When picking Nidalee, make sure that you have a team that can poke and kite for a long time, as well as a team that can hold a team 4v5 while you split push. Other champions like Anivia, Caitlyn, and Trundle do very well with her making a kite comp that's extremely hard to catch.
Nidalee has very few counters - only a select few that can burst you very quickly. Champions with Silences counter Nidalee very well (i.e. Kassadin, Irelia, Kennen, Cho’Gath). The best way to counter a Nidalee is to ruin her early/mid game by catching her overextending and putting her behind in lane. If Nidalee doesn’t do well in the early game, it’s unlikely she will have a strong game overall.
