Quintessences and Marks: Getting a mix of attack damage and armor penetration is great for Rengar. It increases your jungling speed by a fair amount and the armor penetration syergizes with the 3 Trophy armor penetration, Brutalizer, and the Sunder mastery.
Seals: Armor decreases the damage you take in the jungle early game, allows for you to tower diver better and makes you overall more tanky.
Glyphs: I pick scaling Cooldown reduction to go well with the 4% in masteries and your items.
Alternative Rune Builds:
- Magic Resistance glyphs work well if you feel as you need it. If you do decide to go MR glyphs, i suggest making the most out the stats. Go 5 Flat Glyphs and 4 Mr/lvl Glyphs to obtian optimal MR stats throughout the game.
- Points Available: 30 / 30
9/21/0 is the bread-butter for tanky-bruiser junglers and it goes perfectly well with Rengar's kit. However unlike most bruiser jungles, you want the cooldown reduction instead of the attack speed, you are cooldown dependent and your Savagery already gives a boost of attack speed half the time.
FlashTeleports your Champion to target nearby location under your mouse cursor.
SmiteDeals 460 + (lvl x 30) true damage to target enemy minion or pet.
Flash is necessary on most champions, and one of those is Rengar. It allows for an instant gap closer to land Bola Strike or make use of the ability to leap in Thrill of the Hunt in order to secure kills when ganking early game.
Smite is necessary to secure monster objectives such as Dragon and Baron and runic buff objectives such as Blue and Red. It also increases your jungling speed. A good thing to do when using Smite is to hover over the icon to see how much damage Smite will do and last hit the monster objectives once their HP falls below your current smite damage.
