you don't take advantage of any of the new items.  Is there a reason?  Liandra's Torment looks like a pretty nice item for viktor, especially early if you are maxing lazer first.  You can Q them and get the 5% burn practically for free DPS on a fast cooldown, while leveling up lazer for bigger pokes.  leveling up gravity field is so situational.  If they have an active jungler, or a mid that will jump you (thinking if you get picked into a bruiser mid like a jarvin, etc.), the point makes sense because it can save you from a death.  If their jungler isn't looking like he'll jump you or you are up against a more traditional mid, leveling it later can work fine I think.

look, liandry pretty much sucks on anybody without a dot or evellyn.Basically, sure, you would get more dps on 5 % current health burn, but your dps would be bigger with just more ap...it is just not worth the slot, specially for viktor, that needs to save as many as he can.

Why take a point in W so late? For me that's what sets up all the kills and gives me a chance to escape ganks.

I've never really had a problem with ganks when I get it late. I guess if you really need it then you are pushing too much. The extra damage from leveling other skills is nice and W rarely can be used against your opponent.

same for me i get my w at lvl 5

I don't buy any Doran's Rings, I feel they are just useless and for just a bit more (950 - 1000g) you can get your Augment: Death. I've only had trouble laning against Anivia, Ahri was tough but I was able to kill her. And last but not least, I max my Q early on because the mana costs are significantly lower than his laser's.

There's one item I always get on Viktor when I have 10+ kills, Frozen Heart. When you have 10+ kills you hardly need more AP, you are bursting everyone in 5 seconds. Frozen Heart gives you a large mana pool (I find out he tends to run out of mana quickly when spamming his laser), a lot of armor, some cooldown reduction because your ultimate's cooldown is ridiculous and a passive you don't really care about.

On the other hand, Cassiopeia can poke all day with her little poisonous blasts and just burst you down while you are stunned. Fizz outbursts you.

Doran's Ring REALLY helps my mana problems. Maxing Q is okay for laning I guess but you lose a lot of AoE damage. Also whats the point in leveling Q then getting Augment: Death?

I disagree with karthus being a counter. I've started playing viktor more recently and have destroyed most champions mid purely for the reason that they never fight against viktor so they don't know how to counter him. With ahri she can dodge you but if you land your ult on her she's dead, xerath is sitting still so if you dodge his stun you can burst him pretty fast as well as get off your stun, anivia just kills you so much faster so that really is a true counter. Tf avoids you in lane but in teamfights is does nowhere near as much damage to the enemy team.

Those are all ways of beating counters, but if anything karthus is countered BY viktor, the lack of mobility is two ways so if karthus slows viktor then he gets stunned while he tries to fight and then we just chain cc on his frail ass from there. Even if we say he somehow didn't get caught in the gravity field that he can't possibly escape without flashing he has no hp and you can burst him instantly with your ult q and e. karthus constantly has to stay back in lane and fear you trying to kill him, his passive means nothing if you just insta kill him. At level 9 if you have up to the death augment and not even including ability power he gains naturally per level up, you poke effectively for up to 439 damage every time you hit your e, and that's a move you can use while dodging karthus, so you can burst him down easily if you just want to fight it out or easily poke him down in lane if you're good at skillshots.

It's really hard to avoid getting stunned by Xerath since you have to dodge his Q and all 3 of his ultimates, which is all of his damage anyway.

I really do agree with Viktor countering Karthus though. He is really easy to outburst and can't really escape your Gravity Field unless he moves, therefore sacrificing needed damage to kill you.

I believe that the skill order is fine except I'd get gravity field at lvl 4 as it is a very useful tool to zone your opponent off of creeps as well as help you get away from ganks more easily. I usually augment q and get rylais because you will always be faster than your opponent, and by using this setup, ahri, xerath, karthus, and anivia no longer become a problem for Viktor because his mobility gets huge. The problem with this build is that he has trouble with Ryze, who can lock him down in a snare and rape him, in which case you augment E and run this build here, I've never tried to augment W before but I have to try it in the future, but I believe that getting Q augment, but not leveling it up save for level 1 and rushing rylais after the 2 rings is the better build on Victor overrall.

Personally I take Gravity Field at level four with Viktor as I've never really had problems with his mana. I'm not saying he doesn't have issues, I just find the way I've played him I haven't really had problems.

Level 1 I start with Q unless we're invading, in which case I start with E so I can scout bushes.

Level 1/2 in lane I Q when I can, 3 is when I start using my laser (I max it first) so it's more mana effective for harass.

Level 4 I take W, as I can expect to be ganked at this point and it helps.

Level 5 is when you win just about any trade and with some practie and analyzing how your opponent dodges you can poke from extreme distances with your E, especially to non-mobile targets. (This is why I've never had a problem with Karthus, you can dip into his Q range just long enough to fire E for an easy hit then back off without getting hit, rinse, repeat, R E when he's at half, enjoy th ekill.)

For items I like to start Boots with three potions and go into double Doran's Ring with a Rylai's after, then a Deathcap, after that is situational.

After many games I've found that the rushed Rylai's is amazing, since the kiting potential with Q  as well as the 15% being proc'd by your E's and R's DoT, it gives you a little mid-game beef with lots of chasing and escaping power combined with the fac tthat you have tons of mid-game AP from being Viktor so you're really not wanting for damage either.

That's just me though. The only real credential for Viktor I can list is that I won the PAX East Needlessly Large Paysafe tournament playing VIktor 4/5 games. I'd be more than happy to talk to you about him if you do end up reading this and are willing to.

this is the exact same build i follow (actually i dont buy rings before augment/boots)...i have to disagree regards karthus tho...u can use E before he gets in ur range and u rly dont have to burst damage with Q if ure maxing E....Galio is a good sinergy to viktor so is vlad if he knows when to ulti...get the Q build on again because its really interesting against some champions like ahri, that makes hitting E a little harder cuz of her high mobility...

Just my 2 cents: Viktor is a glass cannon, no use denying it.. He's squishy as hell. I get why the magic resist runes are helpful, but I would build him with AP quints, magic pen marks, and then mana regen runes / glyphs. It allows you to be more aggressive and last in lane longer. Awesome guide :)
