Strategy and Tactics
To start, Zac is probably the most unique jungler regarding ganking. You can jump over many walls and do surprising ganks that enemies won't be expecting. Zac can also bypass a lot of wards with this.
When ganking, your skill combo should be something like E-->W-->Q and then follow up with multiple W's and Q's whenever possible.
His E also gives him a great advantage for Counter Jungling. You're very slippery (pun intended) and can easily get in and out even when caught.
In teamfights you should go in with your E whenever possible, cast it and try to hit someone with it to knockup someone. After that and before you ult, cast a short W. Why? If you ult beforehand you'll knock enemies back and your W won't hit anyone.
Remember to catch your blobs, even in teamfights. Your ult alone will provide you 16% of your maximum health in blobs (provided you hit enemies all 4 times). This value will go up to 19.2% if you have Spirit Visage plus you can get more blobs out if you time your W correctly whilst bouncing around. Enjoy the crazy amount of sustain you get and use it to your advantage
Why Zac is fun
His mechanics and his ganking paths are something very unique and his playstyle is very fun to execute. Plus he's a very safe champion. You can go into the fray in a teamfight, die, pop your passive and still come back to life since your enemies will have to focus other targets in a fight.
Zac is one of the best champions you can have for Smite stealing. You can jump over walls and smite steal without getting caught, or you can just jump in and follow up with your ultimate while your team comes to join you for a teamfight your enemies won't expect. This is one of Zac's biggest strengths
Tips and Tricks
Move in between spell casts. Your damage comes from your abilities, not your auto attacks. If you can add autoattacks better, but don't prioritize them
Remember the advantages of your Ultimate. It gives you 75% CC Reduction and an increased move speed buff after the final bounce (50%). Both of these factors make it easy for you to initiate and get out in case you're low. Also, remember you can use your W in between bounces for more health and more damage.
Blobs won't fall from you if you don't hit an enemy with an ability. So don't use it randomly!!!
Zac's Q can be cast backwards (opposite to the direction Zac is facing) without turning Zac around. This makes it easy to use whilst running
Spam skills as Zac, you'll get free health with them (provided you pick up your blobs)
Synergies and Counters
Zac doesn't have exactly a fixed synergy with champions. He's good with any teamighting composition, so be sure to have a teamcomposition that supports Zac and makes his disruption more effective. Some good examples would be:
As a quick side note, Zac's blobs CAN be smited. So be aware!
Zac can be countered in 3 different ways
- Blob Denial
- Healing Reduction Effects
- Crowd Control (especially the ones that can't be reduced)
Blob Denial is pretty simple. When facing Zac, in or out of teamfights, try to step on his blobs, this will effectively reduce his healing power.
Healing Reduction Effects are extremely effective versus Zac since he uses health to spam abilities. Ignite, Executioner's Calling and/or Morellonomicon will greately increase ones effectiveness in bringing down Zac, so consider these options versus him. Champions that can also counter Zac are Fizz, Katarina, Miss Fortune, Tristana and Varus since one of their abilities applies Grevious wounds and reduces his healing.
Crowd Control counters Zac a lot.
Silences, roots, stuns and knockups are all extremely good versus Zac as they will cancel his Elastic Slingshot.
as for countering his ultimate, all CC works well. But since he has 75% CC reduction, the only types of CC that will work well on him are Knockbacks, Knockups, Supression, Grabs and Flings.
So to stop him in a teamfight, these champions would be a good vs Zac:
